Water Main Replacement Update

Mr. McIlwee writes in response to some question from Terry Forbes:

Mr. Forbes,

The contractor, Linco Inc., is scheduled to begin work on May 31st. They will begin on the Emmet St end and work up to the Alderman intersection.

I know that the UVA Alumni building has a couple of events in the beginning of June, so the contractor will be working with them to ensure that they have complete access for traffic in and out.

The road should remain open to through traffic (unless something unknown is encountered) and they will have a flagging setup, as necessary.

Linco will maintain access to all properties and will be sure to allow everyone in and out of their driveways.

If an instance arises where someone’s access will need to be cut off, the contractor will have to work with the property owner’s schedule and any other issues to ensure they still can get to their home with little nuisance.

The project may also require some street parking be temporarily suspended until the contractor can get away from the specific area. Again, we will try to work with the residents to create as little hassle as possible.

After the waterline project, the ditch lines will be permanently patched.

Hopefully this will help answer some of the questions. If you need anything else or have any other concerns, please let me know.
